Whether a farmer or a corporate partner, DBA provides opportunities for our members to engage policymakers at all levels of government. The dairy community must speak up for itself or our opponents will be more than happy to talk over the silence. Dairy’s voice needs to be heard at the town hall, county boardroom, the Capitol in Madison or on Capitol Hill in Washington.

It is important for our members to individually participate. This is the best way to ensure sensible, science-based outcomes that allow our farmers to continue to thrive. Having people in power who understand modern agriculture and dairy farming is equally important, and there is no better person to fill that role than our members themselves. We understand that time is precious, but there are opportunities to make a difference even if you can spare just a few minutes. From simply reaching out to your government representatives to running for office yourself, there is a chance for everybody to contribute.

DBA’s future successes, and the success of the dairy community overall, will depend on your involvement. Please contact our team to hear more about how you can get involved.

Opportunities for individuals and farms:

  • Contact your local elected officials or participate in local government meetings
  • Engage your state assemblyperson or senator on issues important to dairy farming, either alone or with others from your area as part of a DBA Legislative Engagement Team
  • Offer educational opportunities or tours on your farm to engage officials who aren’t that familiar with agriculture
  • Run as a candidate for a public office
  • Participate in DBA’s webinars and seminars on legal and regulatory changes
