Everything you need to know about voting in the November General Election

Wisconsin dairy farmers, particularly members of the Dairy Business Association, play a crucial role in shaping the state's agricultural landscape and driving its economy. Your daily work goes beyond producing high-quality dairy products; it includes preserving Wisconsin's rural heritage and supporting local communities. Our farmers have a significant stake in policies impacting agriculture, rural development, and economic growth. Voting on Election Day allows dairy farmers to make their voices heard on issues that directly affect their livelihoods, such as agricultural regulations, dairy policy and environmental standards.

For DBA members, participating in the democratic process is even more critical. The association advocates for dairy farmers and their interests at the state and federal levels, but individual votes help ensure that elected officials prioritize the needs of the dairy community. With critical decisions on the ballot that can impact farm operations, farmers need to engage in the electoral process. By voting, you can help shape the future, ensuring a favorable business climate for dairy producers while protecting the environment and safeguarding Wisconsin dairy farming for the next generation.

DBA has endorsed several candidates running for election/re-election to the Wisconsin Legislature. Our priorities focus on ensuring sustainable growth and fostering responsible stewardship of resources. Central to these efforts are DBA’s water quality priorities and goals which seek to promote practices that protect Wisconsin’s water resources while allowing dairy farms to thrive. We are committed to building a positive relationship with the Department of Natural Resources, fostering collaboration between farmers and regulators to achieve practical solutions.

Additionally, our work with the Clean Water Initiative and Ag Coalition promotes science-based policies that balance environmental protection with the needs of the agricultural community, ensuring a prosperous future for both.

By endorsing these candidates, we recognize like-mindedness (on dairy-related issues, policies and regulations). However, candidates hold a wide range of positions on issues outside of dairy that are currently facing the state. We aim to strengthen our legislative partnerships, establish new opportunities to share the dairy story and educate policymakers. We seek to advance initiatives critical to the continued success of our members and the Wisconsin dairy community.

Voter information and frequently asked questions: Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5. Polls across the state will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. In-Person Absentee Voting (early voting) will close at the end of the day Friday, November 1.
