Last week, Marquette Law School released its newest statewide poll, revealing tight races with seven months remaining until the November election. Voters are split in their preferences for President and U.S. Senate.

According to the poll, 51% of both registered and likely voters supported former President Donald Trump, while 49% supported President Joe Biden. This includes the 8% of undecided voters who, when pressed, tended to lean towards Biden, as noted by poll director Charles Franklin during the poll's release on Wednesday (source:www.wispolitics.com).

In terms of the U.S. Senate race, 52% of registered voters in Wisconsin backed incumbent Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin, with 47% supporting her Republican challenger, Madison businessman Eric Hovde. Among the undecided voters, Baldwin led 44-37 percent after they were asked to make a choice.

Additionally, the poll showed a decline in enthusiasm for voting, with only 47% of respondents saying they were "very enthusiastic" about voting. This is a slight decrease from the 49% recorded in January and a significant drop from March 2020, when 67% of voters expressed high enthusiasm for the election, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The latest poll surveyed 814 registered voters in Wisconsin between April 3-10, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.8 percentage points. The sample makeup of the survey was 34% Republican, 31% Democratic, and 34% independent, slightly favoring Republicans compared to the average.
