Think of the industry relations department as the “collaboration center” of DBA. The strategic direction of the department is all about cultivating and curating partnerships that are essential to moving dairy forward.
Industry relations manages the following strategies:
Strengthen and leverage strategic partnerships. A unified strategy is needed to integrate dairy processors and other milk buyers into DBA’s work through advocacy, membership, sponsorship and sustainability.
Create/maintain a positive perception of dairy farmers and our organizations. There is a need for a scalable model for DBA and partners to host tours for elected officials, candidates and staff across Wisconsin.
Improve the economic, social and environmental impact of dairy. In a time of assumptions and anecdotes, there is a need for science-based data in the dairy sustainability space. We need to create a mechanism to track, measure over time and communicate our progress in sustainability.
Leverage our time and talents dedicated to sustainability to create additional revenue streams to cover our staff and financial contribution. In order to ensure DBA’s involvement in sustainability projects for the long term, there is a need to cover expenses and staff time. The majority of DBA’s involvement in these projects comes in the form of in-kind staff time donations. Long term, we need a mechanism to cover this cost.
