One of the primary duties for our staff or any membership organization is to pay visits to individual members. The visits may be to offer support or services, tour the farm or just catch up and find out how we can better serve our members.
During a visit last year, I was surprised to hear a member say how wasteful it was to spend our time and resources on a golf outing. The comment was a wake-up call that not all members understand why we hold the events we do. I can sum up the reasoning in three words: fundraiser, networking and fun.
Our golf outing and Packers tailgate party, along with the Dairy Strong conference, serve as major fundraisers. In addition to revenue generated from membership dues, we depend on sponsorships and registrations from these events to provide funds to support our initiatives in protecting and advancing the Wisconsin dairy community.
The events also provide a great opportunity for farmers and corporate members to come together and discuss the dairy economy, new technology and other trends.
This year’s golf outing, held in June at Lake Arrowhead Golf Resort in Nekoosa, was once again a success with about 250 people participating. Mycogen Seeds was the presenting sponsor.
The company, along with 40 other sponsors, stepped up to make the day possible and fun. Visit our golf page at widba.com to view a list of our great supporters.
Our next annual event and fundraiser, the 18th annual DBA Packers Tailgate Party, is coming up on Aug. 16. The event, including the Packers pre-season game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, is a great activity for families. For the second year in a row, the party will be held at Anduzzi’s Sports Club near Lambeau Field and will feature a tailgate buffet, beverages, games and much more! To learn more about sponsorship opportunities or to register, visit widba.com or contact me at email@example.com.
Thank you to all those who support these events through attendance and sponsorship. Your involvement keeps DBA strong and supports our greater efforts to move Wisconsin dairy forward!
